Infection risk in atopic dermatitis patients treated with biologics and JAK inhibitors: BioDay results

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Volume 39, Issue 12, Page 2056-2068, December 2025.
This cohort study of 1793 atopic dermatitis patients (aged ≥ 12) found higher infection rates with Janus kinase inhibitor treatment compared to biologic treatment, particularly for herpes infections, with a history of viral or fungal skin infection as a risk factor associated with infection.

Reduced TLR3 and TLR9 Expression in Epidermodysplasia Verruciformis: Evidence From a Comparative Skin Study

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 97, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Epidermodysplasia verruciformis (EV) is a rare genodermatosis characterized by lifelong β‐human papillomavirus (β‐HPV) persistence, extensive flat warts, and increased risk of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. While TMC6, TMC8, and CIB1 mutations are recognized as genetic drivers, innate immune mechanisms contributing to HPV persistence ...

Vaccinia protein C16 blocks innate immune sensing of DNA by binding the Ku complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
VACV gene C16L encodes a 37-kDa protein that is highly conserved in orthopoxviruses and functions as an immunomodulator. Intranasal infection of mice with a virus lacking C16L (vΔC16) induced less weight loss, fewer signs of illness and increased ...
