Galactokinase 1 Positively Regulates Mitochondrial Respiration by Phosphorylating TIMM13 as a Protein Kinase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
GALK1 acts as a protein kinase beyond the phosphorylation of galactose. GALK1 phosphorylates TIMM13 at Y73 in the cytoplasm. This phosphorylation prevents premature oxidative folding of TIMM13 and ensures its entrance into the intermembrane space of mitochondrion, positively regulating mitochondrial respiration.

Long‐Term Human Skin Platform for Modeling Chronic Inflammation, Environmental Stress, and Therapeutic Intervention

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An advanced, long‐term human skin platform maintains native skin structure and key tissue functions for up to four weeks. The platform models chronic inflammation, aging‐related skin changes, and UVB damage, enabling drug and topical interventions—including anti‐inflammatory therapy, senolytic treatment, and sunscreen—to be evaluated in intact human ...

The Cytoplasmic MicroRNA‐Production Complex Regulates MicroRNA Sorting to Extracellular Vesicles During Synaptogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The mechanisms of microRNA cargo sorting to extracellular vesicles, important mediators of cell communication, are not fully understood. This study reveals that the microRNA‐production machinery acts as a ‘hub’ for the sorting of microRNAs to extracellular vesicles, a process regulated by dynamic organelle interactions.

Mitochondrial Protection and Neural Repair via ROS‐Responsive Biomimetic Nanoparticles in Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A ROS‐responsive biomimetic nanoparticle platform co‐delivers DIDS and Mdivi‐1 to protect mitochondria and promote neural repair after intracerebral hemorrhage. By targeting LPAR1/VDAC1‐related mitochondrial dysfunction, the nanotherapy reduces oxidative injury, neuronal apoptosis, and blood‐brain barrier disruption, improving neurological recovery and

A ROS‐Responsive and Mucoadhesive Thermosensitive Hydrogel Encapsulated with Mizoribine for Synergistic Dry Eye Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ROS‐responsive in situ thermosensitive MZR@SPPP hydrogel system enables dual‐stage drug loading and sustained ocular delivery. Upon administration, it gelates at ocular surface temperature, enhancing ocular adhesion. By scavenging free radicals, restoring NRF2‐mediated antioxidant defense and mitochondrial homeostasis, and suppressing inflammatory ...
