Induction of IL‐9‐producing CD8+ T cells by ascochlorin derivatives

A newly synthesised ascochlorin derivative, N184, induces small amounts of IL‐9‐producing CD8+ T cells. N184 improved the survival of CD8+ T cells and enhanced their antitumour activity, partially in an IL‐9‐dependent manner. The antitumour effect was completely dependent on IFNγ secretion rather than the cytotoxic activity of CD8+ T cells.

Use of Monensin Sodium and Tylosin in Feedyard Rations

Abstract Monensin sodium was approved in 1975 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in feedyard cattle to improve feed efficiency. Early research studies both in vitro and in vivo demonstrated that monensin altered ruminal fermentation of cattle by reducing acetate and increasing propionate by the ruminal microflora.

Abstract A bioautographic technique for the determination of monensin sodium contamination in animal feeds is described. The feeds are extracted in aqueous methanol and the initial monensin extracts are isolated by filtration through an alumina column.
