Effects of dietary brown propolis on nutrient intake and digestibility in feedlot lambs

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2014
The present study tested brown propolis in crude or extract form as a feed supplement for feedlot lambs to identify the type that most improves in vivo nutrient digestibility. Digestibility was assessed by both total fecal collection and internal markers

Effects of Perovskia abrotanoides Kar. Essential Oil on Greenhouse Gas Mitigation and Energy Efficiency Improvement in Sheep Rumen: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
The essential oil of Perovskia abrotanoides Kar. (rich in 1,8‐cineole and camphor) linearly reduced methane production (up to 57.5%) and total protozoa population in sheep rumen fluid in vitro. Simultaneously, it increased microbial biomass production, microbial synthesis efficiency and the partitioning factor, indicating improved rumen energy ...

Sodium bentonite and monensin under chronic aflatoxicosis in broiler chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2011
Clay feed additives have been increasingly incorporated into animal diets to prevent aflatoxicosis. Due to the nonselective nature of the binding interaction, many important components of the diets could also be made unavailable because of these feed additives. The anticoccidial monensin (MON) could also be sequestered by these clays. The use of sodium

Fn14 signalling participates in pristane‐induced murine lupus through exacerbating oxidative stress

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 5102-5119, August 2026.
Background and Purpose Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by oxidative stress and immune dysregulation. Fibroblast growth factor‐inducible 14 (Fn14) has been implicated in tissue injury, but its specific role in SLE pathogenesis remains unclear.

Safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of nicarbazin (NICACOX®) for chickens for fattening and chickens reared for laying (Huvepharma N.V.)

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Following a request from the European Commission, EFSA was asked to deliver a scientific opinion on the safety and efficacy of a feed additive consisting of nicarbazin (NICACOX®) as a coccidiostat for chickens for fattening and chickens reared for laying.

Interactive effects of sodium bentonite and coccidiosis with monensin or salinomycin in chicks

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1998
Three experiments (Exp.) were conducted to determine the interactive effects of sodium bentonite (NaB) with the efficacy of monensin (MON) or salinomycin (SAL) in coccidiosis-infected chicks. Male broiler chicks 5 to 14 d of age were used, and each treatment was replicated with eight (Exp. 1) or four (Exp. 2 and 3) pens of five chicks each. In Exp.

Dissection and Engineering of Modular Polyketide Synthase Extender Unit Specificity Motifs

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Motif‐level engineering of acyltransferase domains in polyketide synthases enables programable extender unit selectivity. Cooperative mutations and motif exchanges reprogram substrate preference, enabling the incorporation of non‐native extender units and expanding polyketide structural diversity, with gains in activity and product yield.

Monensin A acid complexes as a model of electrogenic transport of sodium cation

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 2012
New Monensin A acid complexes with water molecule, sodium chloride and sodium perchlorate were obtained and studied by X-ray and (1)H, (13)C NMR and FT-IR methods as well as ab initio calculations. The crystal structure of the complexes indicates the complexation of the water molecule and Na(+) cation in the pseudo-cycle conformation of the Monensin ...
