Hypoxia Biomimicry to Enhance Monetite Bone Defect Repair
Tissue Engineering Part A, 2017Tissue hypoxia is a critical driving force for angiogenic and osteogenic responses in bone regeneration and is, at least partly, under the control of the Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1α (HIF-1α) pathway. Recently, the widely used iron chelator deferoxamine (DFO) has been found to elevate HIF-1α levels independent of oxygen concentrations, thereby, creating

Heterogeneous crystallization of calcium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous (monetite)
Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 2017Abstract The crystal growth of monetite (CaHPO 4 , DCPA), the least stable calcium phosphate has been investigated by the seeded growth method from solutions supersaturated exclusively with respect to this phase alone. The kinetics of crystal growth was measured at constant supersaturation at 37° C, pH 6.0.

Development of monetite–nanosilica bone cement: A preliminary study
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, 2014AbstractIn this paper, we reported the results of our efforts in developing DCPA/nanosilica composite orthopedic cement. It is motivated by the significances of DCPA and silicon in bone physiological activities. More specifically, this paper examined the effects of various experimental parameters on the properties of such composite cements.

Occluding dentin tubules with monetite paste in vitro.
Hua xi kou qiang yi xue za zhi = Huaxi kouqiang yixue zazhi = West China journal of stomatology, 2021This study was performed to evaluate the occlusion of monetite paste on dentine tubule and provide a new potential method for treating dentine hypersensitivity.Calcium oxide, strontium chloride, and polyethylene glycol phosphate were mixed in a certain proportion and ground in a planetary ball mill.

Bioactivity of strontium-monetite coatings for biomedical applications
Ceramics International, 2019Abstract The bioactivity of calcium phosphate (CaP) coatings can be controlled by different CaP phase precipitation and/or addition of foreign ions to their crystal lattice. Cationic substitution of strontium (Sr) into CaP coatings has gained a great attention due to the unique potential of Sr ions on stimulating new bone formation while inhibiting ...

Monetite granules versus particulate autologous bone in bone regeneration
Annals of Anatomy - Anatomischer Anzeiger, 2015The aim of this study was to test bone tissue response to monetite granules in comparison with intramembranous autologous bone graft in a rabbit calvaria critical size defect model.Novel monetite granules were synthesized by thermal conversion of set brushite cement. Eight female New Zealand rabbits were used for this study. Two identical 10mm diameter

Ultrasonic-Irradiation-Assisted Oriented Assembly of Ordered Monetite Nanosheets Stacking
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2009Bioactive monetite (anhydrous calcium hydrogen phosphate, CaHPO(4)) with orderly layered structure assembled by nanosheets has been successfully synthesized by a sonochemical-assisted method in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The thicknesses of the nanosheets are 100-200 nm, and the lateral sizes are about 2 microm.

Dental enamel-like hydroxyapatite transformed directly from monetite
Journal of Materials Chemistry, 2012Up to now, the strategy to fabricate biomimetic dental enamel-like hydroxyapatite (HA) has attracted great interest due to the extremely high degree of architectural organization of HA crystals. In this study, in the absence of surfactants, organic solvent or template-directing agents, a facile method via direct transformation from monetite (CaHPO4 ...

A novel method of forming micro- and macroporous monetite cements
J. Mater. Chem. B, 2013Second to autologous bone grafts are the calcium phosphate cements (CPCs) used as synthetic bone substitutes due to their chemical similarity to the mineral component of bone. Their ability to conform to complex bone defects and excellent osteoconductivity also render them excellent scaffolds for bone tissue engineering, although they do have their own

Preparation and properties of tetracalcium phosphate–monetite biocement
Materials Letters, 2013Abstract The tetracalcium phosphate–monetite cement mixture was prepared by reaction milling of tetracalcium phosphate with the orthophosphoric acid ethanol solution. The presence of nanomonetite phase caused significant lowering of the pH value in cement paste during hardening.
