Facile synthesis of monetite nanoparticles from basic raw materials

Ceramics International, 2018
Abstract Nanosized calcium phosphate phase – monetite was synthetized at room temperature by simple one-pot method using only basic raw materials: concentrated phosphoric acid, calcium hydroxide suspended in water and ethanol for crystallisation and purification purposes.

NEW POLYMORPH OF CaHPO4 (MONETITE): SYNTHESIS AND CRYSTAL STRUCTURE

Журнал структурной химии, 2016
A novel form of anhydrous dicalcium phosphate CaHPO4 (monetite) is synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Ccm21 with a = 6.242(1) A, b = 6.994(2) A, c = 7.003(3) A, V = 305.73(16) A3 and it has four independent unit formulas in the unit cell (Z = 4).

Bioactive monetite‐containing whisker‐like fibers reinforced chitosan scaffolds

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2017
Abstract The aim of this work was to develop bioactive chitosan scaffolds reinforced with monetite‐containing whisker‐like fibers. The fibers synthesized by homogeneous precipitation were characterized as monetite/hydroxyapatite short fibers ( MAF s), using

Bone substitute: Transforming β-tricalcium phosphate porous scaffolds into monetite

Biomaterials, 2008
The goal of the present study was to assess the possibility to change the composition of a calcium phosphate scaffold from a high-temperature phase to a phase only stable at or close to room temperature without macrostructural changes. For that purpose, macroporous beta-TCP scaffolds were converted into alpha-TCP by high-temperature thermal treatment ...

Dielectric and ac ionic conductivity investigations in the monetite

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2009
Abstract The complex impedance of the monetite has been investigated in the temperature and the frequency range 338–573 K and 200 Hz to 1 MHz, respectively. The angular frequency dependence of the conductivity is interpreted in terms of Jonscher's law and the values of the exponent n are about 0.57 ± 0.02 in all range of temperature.

Formation of monetite nanoparticles and nanofibers in reverse micelles

Journal of Materials Science, 2007
Reverse micelles solution of water and cyclohexane containing either cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) or polyoxyethylene-8-dodecyl ether (C12E8) surfactants and n-pentanol as co-surfactant have been used as organized reaction microenvironments for monetite (dicalcium phosphate anhydrous, DCPA) precipitation.

Macroporous monetite scaffold for bone tissue engineering

2012
Three dimensional scaffolds based on ceramics, polymers and or composites in combination with mesenchymal stem cells can be utilized to engineer tissues such as bone and cartilage [1]. One of the main limitations of 3D constructs is the mass transfer involved during in vitro culture which results in limited cell growth within the 3D construct.

A Self-Setting, Monetite (CaHPO4) Cement for Skeletal Repair

2008
A low compressive strength (2 to 4 MPa) but very simple and inexpensive orthopedic CaHPO 4 cement was developed by using commercially available Ca(OH) 2 powders as the only starting powder component. The setting solution used was a special aqueous phosphoric acid (H 3 PO 4 ) solution, with a small amount of sodium hydrogen carbonate (NaHCO 3 ...

Monetite (CaHPO 4 ) Synthesis in Ethanol at Room Temperature

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 2009
A straightforward process was developed to synthesize monetite (CaHPO 4 , dicalcium phosphate anhydrous) powders at room temperature (21°±1°C) in ethanol solutions. The process reported here constitutes an alternative to well‐publicized monetite synthesis procedures
