Monilinia fructigena secretes one molecular form of endo-polygalacturonase (PG) in apple fruits infected by it. This PG, purified from culture filtrate to homogeneity, had an Mr of ca 33 000 (SDS electrophoresis) and a pI value of ca 9.75. It had little or no effect on the structural integrity of potato tuber tissues, nor on the viability of apple ...

The spread of apple brown rot (Monilinia fructigena) by insects
Annals of Applied Biology, 1989SummaryField and laboratory experiments were carried out to compare the spread of apple brown rot (Monilinia fructigena) by free aerial transmission of conidia, with insect spread of the pathogen. Significantly more brown rot developed on injured apples which had been visited by insects than on unvisited ones.

Antifungal Activity and Mechanistic Insights of 1-O-Alkylglycerols against Monilinia fructigena
Journal of Agricultural and Food ChemistryPeach brown rot, caused by Monilinia fructigena (M. fructigena), is a destructive disease that affects peaches during pre- and postharvest stages. In this study, two 1-O-alkylglycerols (AKGs), namely, AKG-2 (1-O-dodecylglycerol) and AKG-4 (3-(2-ethylhexyloxy)propane-1,2-diol), demonstrated significant in vitro antifungal activity against M. fructigena,
