Human monkeypox, an infectious disease caused by monkeypox virus (MPXV), is endemic to western and central Africa. A LightCycler quantitative PCR (LC-qPCR) system was developed for the diagnosis of this disease, targeting the A-type inclusion body gene (ATI gene) of MPXV.
