Local photodoping in monolayer MoS 2 [PDF]

open access: yesNanotechnology, 2020
Abstract Inducing electrostatic doping in 2D materials by laser exposure (photodoping effect) is an exciting route to tune optoelectronic phenomena. However, there is a lack of investigation concerning in what respect the action of photodoping in optoelectronic devices is local.

Trion induced photoluminescence of a doped MoS2 monolayer [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2020
We demonstrate that the temperature and doping dependencies of the photoluminescence (PL) spectra of a doped MoS2 monolayer have several peculiar characteristics defined by the trion radiative decay. While only zero-momentum exciton states are coupled to light, radiative recombination of non-zero momentum trions is also allowed.

Structural and electronic properties of germanene/MoS2 monolayer and silicene/MoS2 monolayer superlattices [PDF]

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2014
Abstract Superlattice provides a new approach to enrich the class of materials with novel properties. Here, we report the structural and electronic properties of superlattices made with alternate stacking of two-dimensional hexagonal germanene (or silicene) and a MoS2 monolayer using the first principles approach.

Mechanically modulated tunneling resistance in monolayer MoS2 [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2013
We report on the modulation of tunneling resistance in MoS2 monolayers using a conductive atomic force microscope (AFM). The resistance between the conductive AFM probe and the bottom electrode separated by a monolayer MoS2 is reversibly reduced by up to 4 orders of magnitude, which is attributed to enhanced quantum tunneling when the monolayer is ...

Temperature-dependent phonon shifts in monolayer MoS2 [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2013
We present a combined experimental and computational study of two-dimensional molybdenum disulfide and the effect of temperature on the frequency shifts of the Raman-active E2g and A1g modes in the monolayer. While both peaks show an expected red-shift with increasing temperature, the frequency shift is larger for the A1g mode than for the E2g mode ...

Ultrasensitive photodetectors based on monolayer MoS2

open access: yesNature Nanotechnology, 2013
Two-dimensional materials are an emerging class of new materials with a wide range of electrical properties and potential practical applications. Although graphene is the most well-studied two-dimensional material, single layers of other materials, such as insulating BN (ref.

Valley polarization in MoS2 monolayers by optical pumping [PDF]

open access: yesNature Nanotechnology, 2012
We report experimental evidences on selective occupation of the degenerate valleys in MoS2 monolayers by circularly polarized optical pumping. Over 30% valley polarization has been observed at K and K' valley via the polarization resolved luminescence spectra on pristine MoS2 monolayers.

Sub‐bandgap activated charges transfer in a graphene‐MoS2‐graphene heterostructure

open access: yesNano Select, 2021
Monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides are semiconducting materials which offer many prospects in optoelectronics. A monolayer of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has a direct bandgap of 1.88 eV.

Monolayers of MoS2 as an oxidation protective nanocoating material [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Physics, 2014
First-principle calculations are employed to investigate the interaction of oxygen with ideal and defective MoS2 monolayers. Our calculations show that while oxygen atoms are strongly bound on top of sulfur atoms, the oxygen molecule only weakly interacts with the surface.

Strain engineering in monolayer WS2, MoS2, and the WS2/MoS2 heterostructure [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2016
Mechanically exfoliated monolayers of WS2, MoS2 and their van der Waals heterostructure were fabricated on flexible substrate so that uniaxial tensile strain can be applied to the two-dimensional samples. The modification of the band structure under strain was investigated by micro-photoluminescence spectroscopy at room temperature as well as by first ...
