Cyanoacrylate Monomers As an Adhesive

The tensile strengths of various substrate-substrate bonds and substrate-skin bonds using isobutyl cyanoacrylate and β,β,β-trifluoro-isopropyl cyanoacrylate were studied. All materials produced strong bonds with skin with either isobutyl cyanoacrylate or MBR-4197. Tissues adhesives will bind a variety of materials to tissues securely.

The authors discuss the kinetics of an irreversible monomer-monomer model of heterogeneous catalysis. In this model, two reactive species, A and B, adsorb irreversibly onto single sites of a catalytic substrate; subsequently nearest-neighbour adsorbed AB pairs can bond to form a reaction product which desorbs from the substrate.
