Glucocorticoid Receptor in Circulating Mononuclear Leukocytes

Endocrinology, 1979
Binding of [3H]dexamethasone ([3H]Dex) and [3H]cortisol to normal female goat mononuclear leukocytes (MNL) was studied at 4 and 20 C. Dissociation studies of [3H]Dex and [3H]cortisol from MNL after 3 h of incubation at 20 C indicated the presence of at least two components; a small pool with a dissociation rate constant (kOfr) of 15 ± 8 x 10-3 min-1 ...

Platelet aggregating substance from mononuclear leukocytes

Prostaglandins, Leukotrienes and Medicine, 1986
Human peripheral blood mononuclear leukocytes (ML) in suspension stimulated with arachidonic acid (AA) were able to induce platelet aggregation. Shape change followed by first and second wave aggregation was the pattern of the platelet response. ML not treated with AA did not induce platelet aggregation nor did AA done at the concentration employed ...

The significance of atypical mononuclear leukocytes

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1962
Summary Atypical mononuclear leukocytes in routine peripheral blood smears from 20 children have been studied and the clinical features of the cases reviewed. There seems reason to believe that these atypical cells are lymphocytes in the process of maturing to histiocytes or monocytes.

Effects of antigens on mononuclear leukocyte chemiluminescence

Immunological Investigations, 1985
Influenza virus and Candida albicans allergenic extract elicit alterations in the oxidative metabolic activity of human mononuclear leukocytes (MNL). MNL preparations (greater than 96% lymphocytes, less than 4% monocytes) exposed in vitro to inactivated influenza virus displayed significantly enhanced oxidative activity, as demonstrated by luminol ...

Mineralocorticoid effector mechanism in human mononuclear leukocytes

Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1987
Mineralocorticoid receptors and mineralocorticoid effector mechanism were determined in mononuclear leukocytes (MNL) from normal subjects. The hierarchy of affinities of competitors for the receptor was similar to that described in other non-classical target tissues for aldosterone.

Humoral Mediators of Chemotaxis of Mononuclear Leukocytes

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1972
In-vitro studies of chemotaxis of mononuclear leukocytes (MNLs) were performed to characterize humoral mediators governing the accumulation of these cells at inflammatory sites. Two humoral factors that attract MNLs in vitro were found. The first was a heat-labile factor (mol wt, 90,000) present in untreated guinea-pig serum and plasma.

Glucocortinoid receptors on mononuclear leukocytes in Alzheimer's disease

Psychiatry Research, 1990
Several lines of evidence suggest disturbances of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) system in Alzheimer's disease (AD). In an exploration of the potential role of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) in AD, GR density and affinity were assessed on mononuclear leukocytes of 12 AD patients and 12 healthy controls.

Depressed Mononuclear Leukocyte Chemotaxis in Thermally Injured Patients

The Journal of Immunology, 1977
Abstract Microbial infection is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality in thermally injured patients. Since normal mononuclear leukocytes (MNL) function is essential in host defense, the chemotactic response of MNL from 25 thermally injured patients was evaluated in vitro.

Hyaluronan-mediated mononuclear leukocyte binding to gingival fibroblasts

Clinical Oral Investigations, 2017
Binding of mononuclear leukocytes to hyaluronan cable structures is a well-known pathomechanism in several chronic inflammatory diseases, but has not yet described for chronic oral inflammations. The aim of this study was to evaluate if and how binding of mononuclear leukocytes to pathologic hyaluronan cable structures can be induced in human gingival ...

Mononuclear phagocytes and dendritic leukocytes in the skin

Clinics in Dermatology, 1996
P arasitic microorganisms have evolved to become dependent on other organisms for their successful life cycle. This is achieved through a variety of interactions with defined tissues, cells, and molecules of the parasite-carrier organisms (hosts/reservoirs, vectors).
