Analysis of monoterpenes and monoterpenoids
2020Monoterpenes and monoterpenoids represent a set of chemicals widely diffused in plants whose basic structure consists of two linked isoprene units. In addition to their abundance in plants, monoterpenes and monoterpenoids constitute approximately 90% of essential oils and demonstrate a wide diversity in their chemical structures and biological ...

Hepatotoxicity of monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes
Archives of Toxicology, 2017Public interest in natural therapies has increased significantly over past decades. Herbs and herbal products are extensively consumed worldwide and they are generally considered as safe. However, this may not always be true as many cases of herb-induced liver injury are reported every year.

A lipase inhibitor monoterpene and monoterpene glycosides from Monarda punctata
Phytochemistry, 2010An 80% acetone extract of Monarda punctata showed an inhibitory effect on lipase activity in isolated mouse plasma in vitro and carvacrol was obtained as the active constituent. It had an IC₅₀ value of 4.07 mM invitro and suppressed elevations in blood triacylglycerol levels in olive oil-loaded mice. Furthermore, from the whole plant, 22 compounds were

A new monoterpene glycoside and antibacterial monoterpene glycosides fromPaeonia suffruticosa
Archives of Pharmacal Research, 2006Antibacterial activity-guided fractionation of the CHCI3-MeOH (1:1) extract of Paeonia suffruticosa root bark furnished three monoterpene glycosides, 6-O-vanillyoxypaeoniflorin (1), mudanpioside-H (2), and galloyl-oxypaeoniflorin (3). Of the isolated compounds, compound 1 is a new compound.

Structural Basis of Catalysis in the Bacterial Monoterpene Synthases Linalool Synthase and 1,8-Cineole Synthase [PDF]
Terpenoids form the largest and stereochemically most diverse class of natural products, and there is considerable interest in producing these by biocatalysis with whole cells or purified enzymes, and by metabolic engineering.

Monoterpene biotransformation by Colletotrichum species
Biotechnology Letters, 2017To investigate the biocatalytic potential of Colletotrichum acutatum and Colletotrichum nymphaeae for monoterpene biotransformation.C. acutatum and C. nymphaeae used limonene, α-pinene, β-pinene, farnesene, citronellol, linalool, geraniol, perillyl alcohol, and carveol as sole carbon and energy sources. Both species biotransformed limonene and linalool,

Monoterpenes in grape juice and wines
Journal of Chromatography A, 2000The importance of monoterpenes on varietal flavour of wines has been reviewed. These compounds were mainly found linked to sugar moieties in the grape juice and wines, showing no olfactive characteristics. In this way, mechanisms to liberate terpenes were studied, making a comparative study between acidic and enzymic hydrolysis of terpene glycosides ...

Aerobic biodegradation of selected monoterpenes
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1996Batch experiments were conducted to assess the biotransformation potential of four hydrocarbon monoterpenes (d-limonene, alpha-pinene, gamma-terpinene, and terpinolene) and four alcohols (arbanol, linalool, plinol, and alpha-terpineol) under aerobic conditions at 23 degrees C.

Monoterpene hydrocarbons in the nighttime troposphere
Environmental Science & Technology, 1985Monoterpene hydrocarbons were measured during the night at a rural site in the Rocky Mountains. The compounds positively identified and quantified were ..cap alpha..-pinene, camphene, ..beta..-pinene, ..delta../sup 3/-carene, and d-limonene. The average sum of the mixing ratios of the five compounds measured during the nighttime between July and Oct ...
