A new acyclic monoterpene, (E)-8-bromo-3,7-dichloro-2,6-dimethylocta-1,5-diene (4), has been isolated as the major monoterpene component of the red alga Plocamium angustum. A second component was the previously described cross-conjugated dienone (5).
