The Role of Oxidative Stress in Periodontitis
Oxidative stress is involved in multiple chemical reactions that take place in different intracellular organelles: mitochondria, rough endoplasmic reticulum, peroxisomes, autophagy, and aging, and can be influenced by exogenous factors: nutrition, physical activity, psychological status, environmental conditions, microbiome, and drugs.

Relationship of dietary monounsaturated fatty acids to blood pressure: the international study of macro/micronutrients and blood pressure [PDF]
Objective: In short-term feeding trials, replacement of other macronutrients with monounsaturated fatty acid reduces blood pressure. However, observational studies have not clearly demonstrated a relationship between monounsaturated fatty acid intake ...

The trajectories of energy, macro, and micronutrient intake from pregnancy to 8.5 months postpartum showed a stability in energy and protein, a decline in carbohydrates and fibre, and discrete increases in total fat, mono, poly, and saturated fat. In addition, there was a decline in the intake of most micronutrients.

ABSTRACT Brain development is an ongoing process that occurs throughout the first 1000 days of life (conception until 2 years) and proceeds throughout childhood, adolescence and up until early adulthood. Adequate nutrient intakes are crucial for both neurodevelopment inside the womb and critical life‐stages thereafter when the brain continues to grow ...

ABSTRACT Citrus greening disease, or Huanglongbing (HLB), has caused devastating losses to citrus production in Florida, with yields declining by over 90% since 2005. Despite extensive efforts, no sustainable solution has been widely effective. Here, transgenic ‘Hamlin’ sweet orange lines engineered to constitutively express the Arabidopsis NPR1 ...

Monounsaturated fatty acids promote cancer radioresistance by inhibiting ferroptosis through ACSL3
Radioresistance is a major challenge in tumor radiotherapy and involves in a mixture of cellular events, including ferroptosis, a new type of programmed cell death characterized by the excess accumulation of iron-dependent lipid peroxides. In the present
