Method of Obtaining Viscosity Curves with Mooney Rheometer
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1979Abstract A mathematical expression is derived for calculating shear stresses from torque values observed with the Mooney rheometer. Examination of this expression indicates that some improvement is possible in the rotor design. The numerical values of the conversion factor are given for both small and large rotors.

Neural modelling of Mooney viscosity of polybutadiene rubber
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2005Abstract Mooney viscosity is one of the important quality properties of polybutadiene rubber (PBR). It is important to implement appropriate measures to maintain and guarantee a uniform product quality required by the rubber processing industries.

Relations between high‐temperature mastication and Mooney viscosity relaxation in natural rubber
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 2009AbstractMastication of natural rubber (NR) is undertaken as a preliminary step towards the preparation of NR‐based vulcanizates, a process during which the elastomer is broken down to a homogeneous matrix of lower viscosity. Several tests and indicators are in use for characterizing the behavior of elastomers but these have mostly been adopted for the ...

Industrial Mooney viscosity prediction using fast semi-supervised empirical model
Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory Systems, 2017Abstract In industrial rubber mixing processes, the quality index (i.e., Mooney viscosity) cannot be online measured directly. Traditional data-driven empirical models for online prediction of the Mooney viscosity have not utilized the information hidden in lots of unlabeled data (e.g., process input variables during each mixing batch). A simple semi-

Mooney Viscosity Stability and Polymer Filler Interactions in Silica Filled Rubbers
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 2002Abstract The change in Mooney viscosity (ML1+4) with aging was followed for silica filled compounds containing various silanes and polar additives. Several mechanisms for the aging stability are postulated and evaluated through experimentation.

On Mooney viscosity and Mooney stress relaxation. I
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1999Mooney relaxation is highly nonlinear, strongly differs from stress relaxation at small strains, and can be described by Wagner's nonlinear rheological model for polymer melts. In the practical evaluation, the Mooney Stress Relaxation slope is more accurate than quantities such as t80. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Mooney Viscosity of Carbon Black-Rubber Mixtures
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1957Abstract The principal properties of carbon black which must be considered in the study of rubber mixtures containing carbon black are (1) particle size and the related property, (2) surface area, (3) hydrogen content, (4) oxygen content, and finally a property which is more difficult to evaluate but which is related to (5) the tendency to ...

Reduction of Variation in Mooney Viscosity of Polybutadiene Rubber
2012Poly Butadiene Rubber (PBR) is used in rubber processing industries. Mooney viscosity is an important quality parameter of PBR. The design range of Mooney viscosity of the product from last reactor outlet is in the range of 37-47. The existing variation of Mooney viscosity is between 37 and 43 for 92% of the product.

The Mooney Viscosity and Gel Plasticity Relationship for GR-S-Xylene Gels
Rubber Chemistry and Technology, 1948Abstract 1. A new method for measuring plasticities of highly viscous GR-S-solvent gels is described. 2. The coefficient and the standard error of estimate for the regression of plasticities of 35 per cent GR-S-xylene gels on Mooney viscosity (ML 4/212) of the rubber have been calculated. 3.

Mooney Viscosity Measurements in Determining Processibility of Technically Classified Rubbers
1953Mooney viscosity measurements have been found helpful in estimating the processing characteristics of rubbers. They must be supplemented by other types of tests, however, before a comprehensive measure of processibility can be obtained.
