Design narratives: an intuitive scientific form for capturing design knowledge in education

open access: yes, 2011
This paper provides a brief introduction to design-based research in education, its rationale and principles. It then highlights some of the challenges in reporting on design research, and proposes design narratives as a suitable form to address these ...

Sidelining Mitigation: Climate Delay Discourses Among Municipal Legislators in Southeastern Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how municipal legislators frame climate mitigation and how these framings shift responsibility, narrow the perceived scope of municipal authority, and reduce the urgency or feasibility of local action. We analyzed 31 interviews with city councilors serving on Permanent Environmental Committees across municipalities in ...

Surface Reconstruction‐Promoted Alkaline Overall Water Splitting on Fe‐Doped Ni2P/NiMoO4 Composite Structure

open access: yesElectron, EarlyView.
Fe‐Ni2P/NiMoO4 heterostructure delivers bifunctional performance for both HER and OER in alkaline solution. During OER, Fe doping suppresses LOM through electronic modulation, which consequently leads to an AEM route with enhanced OH* adsorption. Furthermore, the elimination of oxygen‐loss pathways ensures the structural integrity of the Fe‐Ni2P ...

Electrochemical Study of Ni20Cr Coatings Applied by HVOF Process in ZnCl2-KCl at High Temperatures

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Methods in Chemistry, 2014
Corrosion behavior of Ni20Cr coatings deposited by HVOF (high velocity oxygen-fuel) process was evaluated in ZnCl2-KCl (1 : 1 mole ratio) molten salts. Electrochemical techniques employed were potentiodynamic polarization curves, open circuit potential ...

Attacks against a Simplified Experimentally Feasible Semiquantum Key Distribution Protocol

open access: yes, 2018
A semiquantum key distribution (SQKD) protocol makes it possible for a quantum party and a classical party to generate a secret shared key. However, many existing SQKD protocols are not experimentally feasible in a secure way using current technology. An

Climate change effects on biomass and greenhouse gas emissions are ameliorated by nontoxic endophytes in southeastern USA transition zone tall fescue pastures

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Tall fescue produces more biomass and less carbon dioxide from the soil when it contains its beneficial fungal endophyte. Increased temperatures projected with climate change reduce fescue biomass, while altered rainfall frequency does not. Altering rainfall frequency and increasing temperatures can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from soil.
