Comparative and functional anatomy of masticatory muscles and bite force in opossums (Didelphimorphia, Didelphidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
We describe the functional anatomy of masticatory muscles in nine opossums, finding a generalized anatomical pattern with differences related to skull morphology. Variation in quantitative myological data and estimated bite force was mostly related to size, and the increase in bite force supports dietary diversification associated with size increase ...

Chern-Simons Supersymmetric Branes [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Phys. B594 (2001) 229-242, 2000
In this paper we continue the study of the model proposed in the previous paper hep-th/0002077. The model consist of a system of extended objects of diverse dimensionalities, with or without boundaries, with actions of the Chern-Simons form for a supergroup. We also discuss possible connections with Superstring/M-theory.

Teacher self‐efficacy: Validating a new measurement scale to capture the elusive construct

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Teachers’ beliefs in their ability to positively impact students’ learning outcomes has become a strong indicator of teachers’ motivation and behaviour towards the instructional strategies they employ. However, measuring the broader concept of teacher self‐efficacy is still somewhat problematic as current scales are dated, have measurement ...

Casimir effect around disclinations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This communication concerns the structure of the electromagnetic quantum vacuum in a disclinated insulator. It is shown that a nonzero vacuum energy density appears when the rotational symmetry of a continuous insulating elastic medium is broken by a disclination. An explicit expression is given for this Casimir energy density in terms of the parameter

Isolation of Anammoxosomes From the Aggregate Culture of Ca. Brocadia Sapporoensis and Assembly of Ladderane Liposomes

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Ladderane lipids in anammox bacteria can find use in artificial liposomes for drug delivery. This study developed the isolation of ladderane‐rich anammoxosome organelles from previously challenging aggregate mixed culture of Ca. Brocadia sapporoensis.
