Mobile Genetic Elements inMoraxella catarrhalis [PDF]

open access: yesMobile Genetic Elements, 2011
Moraxella catarrhalis is a Gram-negative diplococcus that is a strict human pathogen, which for a long period of time was regarded as a simple commensal. Research now shows that this organism is a pathogen its own right and is associated with both upper and lower respiratory tract infections.

The Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Moraxella Species Other Than Moraxella Catarrhalis

open access: yesTurkiye Klinikleri Journal of Medical Sciences, 2015
ABS TRACT Objective: Although Moraxella species are members of the normal respiratory flora, some species, including M. catarrhalis, M. osloensis, M. nonliquefaciens, and M. lacunata, can cause serious infections in humans. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antimicrobial susceptibility of Moraxella species other than M.

Spectrum and Significance of Bacteremia Due to Moraxella catarrhalis

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 1995
Fifty-eight cases of bacteremia due to Moraxella catarrhalis, including seven that occurred in patients treated at our facilities, are analyzed. The host's medical history plays a major role in the presentation and outcome of M. catarrhalis bacteremia. Bacteremia is typically accompanied by pneumonia in adults with underlying respiratory disease.

Rapid, sensitive and highly specific diagnosis of Moraxella catarrhalis by recombinase polymerase amplification-based biosensor and fluorescence detection

open access: yesSensors and Actuators Reports
Moraxella catarrhalis (M. catarrhalis) was an underestimated respiratory infection pathogen that has been largely overlooked. The limited availability of rapid and sensitive detection methodologies has hindered M.
