Surface-based morphometry reveals the neuroanatomical basis of the five-factor model of personality
The five-factor model (FFM) is a widely used taxonomy of human personality; yet its neuro anatomical basis remains unclear. This is partly because past associations between gray-matter volume and FFM were driven by different surface-based morphometry ...

Spinal Pedicle Morphometry using Multidetector CT—An experience from the Indian Subcontinent
Introduction For safe pedicle screws placement, knowledge of pedicle morphometry is essential, because an inconsistency between pedicle width and the screw diameter may lead to severe complications like nerve, vessel or visceral injuries ...

Micro Elastofluidics for Tuneable Droplet Merging
This technical paper provides a proof of concept of fully flexible and stretchable microfluidic technology for tuneable droplet mixing and merging. The phenomenon is justified through theoretical, numerical and experimental studies. ABSTRACT Droplet microfluidics enables precise handling of discrete fluid volumes at the microscale, with broad ...

Magnetic Resonance Morphometry of Normal Cerebral Aqueduct in South Indian Population
Introduction Cerebral aqueduct (of Sylvius) connects the third and fourth ventricles of the brain, and the shape of the aqueduct varies. The aim of the study is to assess the morphometry of the cerebral aqueduct in normal south Indian adult population ...

The Possible Role of Placental Morphometry in the Detection of Fetal Growth Restriction
Fetal growth restriction (FGR) is often the result of placental insufficiency and is characterized by insufficient transplacental transport of nutrients and oxygen.

This study aims to evaluate the impact of the tryptophan‐derived metabolite indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) on lung development and autophagic flux. IPA alleviates hyperoxia‐induced alveolar arrest by promoting autophagosome‐lysosome fusion via inhibition of VAMP8 phosphorylation, which is suggestive of a promising therapeutic target of BPD.

Automated brightfield morphometry of 3D organoid populations by OrganoSeg
Spheroid and organoid cultures are powerful in vitro models for biology, but size and shape diversity within the culture is largely ignored. To streamline morphometric profiling, we developed OrganoSeg, an open-source software that integrates ...

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

Revisiting pancreatic islet isolation in murine models: A practical and effective technical protocol
The endocrine pancreas is composed of clusters of cell groups called pancreatic islets. These cells are responsible for the synthesis and secretion of hormones crucial for glycemic homeostasis, such as insulin and glucagon.

Automated 3D Axonal Morphometry of White Matter
Axonal structure underlies white matter functionality and plays a major role in brain connectivity. The current literature on the axonal structure is based on the analysis of two-dimensional (2D) cross-sections, which, as we demonstrate, is precarious ...
