Normalizing the Shamed Self: Stigma, Neutralization and “Narrative Credibility” in Interviews on White‐Collar Transgression

open access: yesSymbolic Interaction, EarlyView.
In this article, I analyze my interviews with Mark (pseudonym), a social scientist who committed major academic fraud in over 50 top‐tier journal articles in the first decade of this century. I explain how stigma played a central role in how Mark and I shaped our interaction. I focus on how Mark, a former Professor and Dean with a distinguished career,

“Time‐Tripping” and Memory‐Making: A Grounded Theory of Grounded Theory

open access: yesSymbolic Interaction, EarlyView.
This paper explores the development of grounded theory methodology through the lens of memory studies, introducing the concept of “time‐tripping” as a key generic social process. The paper identifies several sub‐processes of time‐tripping, including “reclaiming,” “resisting,” “retro‐casting,” and “landscaping,” which shape the methodological “imaginary.

Teaching Enjoyment and Vitality as Mediators of Cognitive Flexibility and Reflective Teaching in EFL Teachers: A Mixed‐Methods Serial Mediation Analysis

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract Reflective teaching (RT) is influenced by a range of cognitive, pedagogical, and psycho‐affective factors in second/foreign language (L2) education. However, empirical evidence on the influence of psycho‐affective variables on teachers' reflectivity remains limited.

Modeling the Paths from L2 Use and Socio‐Affective Variables to Communication Skills: A Mixed‐Methods Approach

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract Previous research demonstrated that communication anxiety reduces L2 learners' willingness to communicate and communication frequency, but left unexplored its impact on performance. The current mixed‐methods study investigated factors impacting L2 communication skills.

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Quantum Mechanical Derived (VdW‐DFT) Transferable Lennard–Jones and Morse Potentials to Model Cysteine and Alkanethiol Adsorption on Au(111)

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces
The cysteine and alkanethiol adsorption on Au(111) surfaces is investigated using density functional theory (DFT) and classic molecular dynamics (MD). Understanding the S–Au interaction across different scales poses major challenges.

Urban bats show dietary flexibility in aquatic arthropod consumption at urban and rural waterbodies

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Urban waterbodies are critical for biodiversity and provide feeding grounds for insectivorous bats. Yet, how urbanisation affects bats' food choices at urban waterbodies and the role of emergent aquatic arthropods remain poorly understood. We compared the diet of three urban bat species – Vespadelus vulturnus, Chalinolobus gouldii, and Myotis macropus –
