Strong discrete Morse theory

open access: yes
The purpose of this work is to develop a version of Forman’s discrete Morse theory for simplicial complexes, based on internal strong collapses. Classical discrete Morse theory can be viewed as a generalization of Whitehead’s collapses, where each Morse ...

Modeling the Paths from L2 Use and Socio‐Affective Variables to Communication Skills: A Mixed‐Methods Approach

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract Previous research demonstrated that communication anxiety reduces L2 learners' willingness to communicate and communication frequency, but left unexplored its impact on performance. The current mixed‐methods study investigated factors impacting L2 communication skills.

Existence and multiplicity of solutions for a class of superlinear p-Laplacian equations

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis
In this work, we investigate a class of pp-Laplacian equations with the Dirichlet boundary condition. Under some new conditions, the existence and multiplicity of nontrivial solutions are proved by means of the variational methods.

A Discrete Version of Stratified Morse Theory

open access: yes, 2018
Classical Morse theory connects the topology of a manifold with critical points of a Morse function. Stratified Morse theory considers the topology of a stratified space with critical points of a stratified Morse function.

Morse theory without nondegeneracy

open access: yes, 2020
We describe an extension of Morse theory to smooth functions on compact Riemannian manifolds, without any nondegeneracy assumptions except that the critical locus must have only finitely many connected ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Multiple solutions of nonlinear fractional elliptic equations via Morse theory

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2017
This article concerns the existence and multiplicity of weak solutions of the nonlinear fractional elliptic problem. We extend some well known results of semilinear Laplacian equations to the nonlocal fractional setting. Using the variational methods

Circle-valued Morse theory

open access: yes, 2006
In 1927 M. Morse discovered that the number of critical points of a smooth function on a manifold is closely related to the topology of the manifold. This became a starting point of the Morse theory which is now one of the basic parts of differential ...
