What are the vector species of the Oropouche virus?

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Here, we review the timeline of Oropouche virus (OROV) detection in various hematophagous Diptera, from 1955 to date, including mosquitoes and midges. All vector competence experiments also are described. The results suggest that Culicoides are the primary vectors.

Analysis of Malaria Control Measures Effectiveness Using Multi-Stage Vector Model

open access: yes, 2018
We analyze an epidemiological model to evaluate the effectiveness of multiple means of control in malaria-endemic areas. The mathematical model consists of a system of several ordinary differential equations, and is based on a multicompartment ...

From fertilizer to insecticide: urban leaf litter chemistry alters the survival landscape of Aedes aegypti

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Chemical profiling and bioassays reveal that leaf‐litter leachates from urban trees flip between nourishing and killing Aedes aegypti larvae: dilute Tipuana tipu boosts growth, whereas concentrated, aged extracts are >90% lethal. Species‐specific chemistry thus turns street trees into potential self‐renewing tools for integrated vector control ...

Delayed Sampling and Automatic Rao-Blackwellization of Probabilistic Programs

open access: yes, 2018
We introduce a dynamic mechanism for the solution of analytically-tractable substructure in probabilistic programs, using conjugate priors and affine transformations to reduce variance in Monte Carlo estimators. For inference with Sequential Monte Carlo,

Long‐term impact of exposure to Royal Guard, a pyriproxyfen‐based bed net, on pyrethroid‐resistant malaria vectors from Cameroon using DNA‐based metabolic resistance markers

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 2165-2180, April 2025.
We used recently detected P450 DNA‐based markers of pyrethroid resistance in both Anopheles funestus and Anopheles gambiae to demonstrate that although pyrethroid‐resistant mosquitoes have higher ability to survive and live longer after exposure to Royal Guard, this net significantly affects their lifespan, blood feeding ability and interestingly ...
