Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Study on hydrodynamic response characteristics of double moored floating box considering influence of connection stiffness and length

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
Objective Articulated multiple floating structures are not only subject to wave excitation forces, but also to other nonlinear loads such as connection forces, mooring forces and diffraction forces between floats, making it challenging to predict their ...

Experimental Investigation of Mooring Performance and Energy-Harvesting Performance of Eccentric Rotor Wave Energy Converter

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
To obtain the optimal mooring mode and the best-matching wave condition of an eccentric rotor wave energy converter (ERWEC), a physical model of the ERWEC was developed. Ten mooring modes and eight wave conditions were set up.

Distance in Motion: Response Trajectories Reveal the Dynamics of Number Comparison

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
Cognitive and neuroscientific evidence has challenged the widespread view that perception, cognition and action constitute independent, discrete stages. For example, in continuous response trajectories toward a target response location, evidence suggests

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Priming with real motion biases visual cortical response to bistable apparent motion [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2012
Apparent motion quartet is an ambiguous stimulus that elicits bistable perception, with the perceived motion alternating between two orthogonal paths. In human psychophysical experiments, the probability of perceiving motion in each path is greatly enhanced by a brief exposure to real motion along that path.
