Study on hydrodynamic response characteristics of double moored floating box considering influence of connection stiffness and length

open access: yesZhongguo Jianchuan Yanjiu
Objective Articulated multiple floating structures are not only subject to wave excitation forces, but also to other nonlinear loads such as connection forces, mooring forces and diffraction forces between floats, making it challenging to predict their ...

Experimental Investigation of Mooring Performance and Energy-Harvesting Performance of Eccentric Rotor Wave Energy Converter

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
To obtain the optimal mooring mode and the best-matching wave condition of an eccentric rotor wave energy converter (ERWEC), a physical model of the ERWEC was developed. Ten mooring modes and eight wave conditions were set up.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Evidence for the photospheric excitation of incompressible chromospheric waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Observing the excitation mechanisms of incompressible transverse waves is vital for determining how energy propagates through the lower solar atmosphere.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Wave Motion Response Analysis of Flip-Type Ocean Aquaculture Platforms Based on AQWA

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
The stability of deep-sea aquaculture equipment under extreme sea conditions such as typhoons directly affects the safety and operational reliability of the aquaculture platform, which in turn affects the economic benefits of fish farming.

Perceived motion in structure from motion: Pointing responses to the axis of rotation [PDF]

open access: yesPerception & Psychophysics, 1994
We investigated the ability to match finger orientation to the direction of the axis of rotation in structure-from-motion displays. Preliminary experiments verified that subjects could accurately use the index finger to report direction. The remainder of the experiments studied the perception of the axis of rotation from full rotations of a group of ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

A Review of Research Progress on Cables and Towed Objects of the Ocean Engineering Towing System

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Towing operations are widely applied in various fields such as maritime accident rescue, assisting large vessels entering and exiting ports, and transporting large ocean platforms. Tugboats and the towed objects form a complex multi-body system connected
