Recognizing Speech in a Novel Accent: The Motor Theory of Speech Perception Reframed [PDF]
The motor theory of speech perception holds that we perceive the speech of another in terms of a motor representation of that speech. However, when we have learned to recognize a foreign accent, it seems plausible that recognition of a word rarely ...

EMT‐associated bias in the Parsortix® system observed with pancreatic cancer cell lines
The Parsortix® system was tested for CTC enrichment using pancreatic cancer cell lines with different EMT phenotypes. Spike‐in experiments showed lower recovery of mesenchymal‐like cells. This was confirmed with an EMT‐inducible breast cancer cell line.

Neurotrophic requirements of human motor neurons defined using amplified and purified stem cell-derived cultures. [PDF]
Human motor neurons derived from embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells (hESCs and hiPSCs) are a potentially important tool for studying motor neuron survival and pathological cell death.

Effects of manipulating slowpoke calcium-dependent potassium channel expression on rhythmic locomotor activity in Drosophila larvae [PDF]
Rhythmic motor behaviors are generated by networks of neurons. The sequence and timing of muscle contractions depends on both synaptic connections between neurons and the neurons’ intrinsic properties.

Neuronal Development: Putting Motor Neurons in Their Place [PDF]
In the developing spinal cord, motor neurons occupy discrete columns with different identities and axon projections. This organisation has now been shown to depend crucially on sequential phases of expression of Hox-c proteins, generated in response to fibroblast growth factor signals.

Pericytes change function depending on glioblastoma vicinity: emphasis on immune regulation
Pericytes alter their transcriptome depending on their proximity to the tumor core. In the tumor core, pericytes display a more active state with higher communication strength but with lower immune activation potential and a shift toward extracellular matrix production.

Novel peripheral motor neurons in the posterior tentacles of the snail responsible for local tentacle movements [PDF]
Three flexor muscles of the posterior tentacles of the snail Helix pomatia have recently been described. Here, we identify their local motor neurons by following the retrograde transport of neurobiotin injected into these muscles.

Differential neural dynamics underling pragmatic and semantic affordance processing in macaque ventral premotor cortex [PDF]
Premotor neurons play a fundamental role in transforming physical properties of observed objects, such as size and shape, into motor plans for grasping them, hence contributing to "pragmatic" affordance processing. Premotor neurons can also contribute to

Stem cell‐based embryo models (SCBEMs) are valuable to study early developmental milestones. Matrigel, a basement membrane matrix, is a critical substrate used in various SCBEM protocols, but its role in driving stem cell lineage commitment is not clearly defined.
