Neuromodulation of parietal and motor activity affects motor planning and execution

Cortex, 2014
Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive tool, which effectively modulates behavior, and related brain activity. When applied to the primary motor cortex (M1), tDCS affects motor function, enhancing or decreasing performance of both healthy participants and brain-damaged patients.

Sensory-Motor Transformation and Motor Planning in the Primate Frontal Cortex

Journal of Basic and Clinical Physiology and Pharmacology, 1999
To examine the role of the frontal cortex in sensory-motor processing, we trained a Rhesus monkey to perform a behavioral task with alternations between localization (LOC) and non-localization (NL) paradigms. In the LOC block, the monkey had to remember the modality and location of two sequential cues.

Adapting movement planning to motor impairments: The motor-scanning system

Neuropsychologia, 2007
Previous studies have reported a similar duration for movement execution (real movement) and its internal simulation with motor imagery (virtual movement). The present work has studied the real movement-virtual movement relationship for complex sequences of finger movements after different acute and chronic brain lesions and after a long-lasting ...

Development of a Test of Motor-Planning Ability

Physical Therapy, 1980
Two hundred ten children ranging in age from 6 to 12 years were tested on a battery of items involving motor-planning ability. The most significant items from the original battery were selected through statistical analysis. From this selection, a brief and easy-to-administer test battery was devised that does not require any special equipment.
