Scaffolding theory of maturation, cognition, motor performance, and motor skill acquisition: a revised and comprehensive framework for understanding motor–cognitive interactions across the lifespan

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience
The Scaffolding Theory of Maturation, Cognition, Motor Performance, and Motor Skill Acquisition (SMART COMPASS) provides a revised, integrative framework for understanding the dynamic relationship between motor and cognitive systems across the lifespan ...

Adaptive Neural Networks for Control of Movement Trajectories Invariant under Speed and Force Rescaling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
This article describes two neural network modules that form part of an emerging theory of how adaptive control of goal-directed sensory-motor skills is achieved by humans and other animals.

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Subtype-specific plasticity of inhibitory circuits in motor cortex during motor learning. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Motor skill learning induces long-lasting reorganization of dendritic spines, principal sites of excitatory synapses, in the motor cortex. However, mechanisms that regulate these excitatory synaptic changes remain poorly understood.

Skill-based human-robot cooperation in tele-operated path tracking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work proposes a shared-control tele-operation framework that adapts its cooperative properties to the estimated skill level of the operator. It is hypothesized that different aspects of an operatorâ\u80\u99s performance in executing a tele-operated ...

Motor skill learning between selection and execution [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Cognitive Sciences, 2015
Learning motor skills evolves from the effortful selection of single movement elements to their combined fast and accurate production. We review recent trends in the study of skill learning which suggest a hierarchical organization of the representations that underlie such expert performance, with premotor areas encoding short sequential movement ...

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Emergent modular neural control drives coordinated motor actions. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A remarkable feature of motor control is the ability to coordinate movements across distinct body parts into a consistent, skilled action. To reach and grasp an object, 'gross' arm and 'fine' dexterous movements must be coordinated as a single action ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Melatih Keterampilan Gerak Dasar Anak Madrasah Melalui Aktivitas Olahraga [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Basic motor ability is the ordinary potency students do to improve the quality of life. Basic motor ability is divided to three categories namely: locomotor, nonlocomotor, and manipulative.
