Phylogenomic insights into the genus Tulipa (Liliaceae): Taxonomy, evolution, and biogeography

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 113, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Premise Tulips are one of the best‐known geophytes, but their taxonomy remains convoluted and their evolutionary history poorly understood. Here, we used plastid genomes to identify some issues with current classification, understand the diversification history of the genus, and identify potential species linked to historical cultivation ...

Comparative Mitogenome Analyses Uncover Mitogenome Features and Phylogenetic Implications of the Rabbitfishes (Perciformes: Siganidae)

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
This study reports four newly generated complete mitochondrial genomes of rabbitfishes and compares them with 10 published Siganidae mitogenomes. The results show conserved genome organization and base composition, with interspecific variation mainly in the control region, tRNA structures, and origin of light‐strand replication.

The Greatest Mystery of Futures Studies

open access: yesFUTURES &FORESIGHT SCIENCE, Volume 8, Issue 2, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Futures studies has long lived with a puzzle: every domain the field investigates is already studied by some special science. Three familiar replies—that futures studies extracts insights, takes a longer view, or includes lay perspectives—each capture something real but do not, on closer inspection, individuate the field at the level of its ...

Managing the Environmental Impacts of Outdoor Winter Grazing by Livestock

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Agricultural Research, Volume 69, Issue 4, August 2026.
This review presents a synthesis of current knowledge about managing the potential impacts of outdoor animal wintering activities and their consequences for a range of environmental outcomes. The scope is confined to field‐based wintering approaches and thus, does not consider issues associated with the winter use of animal shelters or standoff systems.
