Influence of Injection Moulding Process Parameters on High-Density Polyethylene Surface Hardness
Materials Science Forum, 2020Commodity polymers are a common part of everyday life. They consist mainly of polyolefins such as polyethylene, polypropylene. They are primarily used for ease of processing, cost and especially chemical resistance. The disadvantages of these polymers are low mechanical properties as well as temperature resistance.

Modeling the Hardness and Mechanical Properties of Moulded Natural Rubber Pad
Materials Science Forum, 2017The Shore A hardness, tensile stress at specified elongation (100, 200, and 300%), and compression stress at given strain (20 and 40%) of moulded natural rubber pads were modeled as function of ingredient proportions. Nine ingredients of the rubber pad were chosen as factors and varied at two levels of proportions. A 29-5 fractional factorial design of

Abstract Powder extrusion moulding (PEM) is a versatile and cost-effective technology for producing bi-dimensional shapes, (e.g. tubes and profiles) from metals, ceramics and cermets. PEM quality is affected by powder content; therefore, three highly-filled polymeric compounds containing 50, 55, 60 vol% tool steel powder were prepared and extruded to

Studies on polishing of glass moulds after lapping with hard and soft pellets
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1996Abstract This paper reports studies on polishing of glass moulds that are first milled and then lapped with hard and soft pellets in the optical industry. Investigations were made in the industry as well as in Gintic. These moulds are used to replicate plastic lenses.

Extrusion moulding of hard-metal powder using a novel binder system
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2003Abstract A powder extrusion moulding (PEM) process based on a novel binder system, and a 92 wt.% tungsten carbide +8 wt.% cobalt composite powder as a test material, are described. The binder system is comprised of major fraction of a mixture of low molecular weight components (LMWCs) and a minor fraction of very finely dispersed polymer.

Effects of sintering on microstructure and hardness of powder injection moulded aluminium composites
International Journal of Materials Engineering Innovation, 2014This research investigated effects of sintering temperature over 660–700°C on microstructure and properties of powder injection moulded silicon carbide (10 vol.%)-reinforced aluminium composites. Mixed powder of 55% solid loading was prepared by ball milling and then injected at 170°C moulding temperature before sintering in a nitrogen atmosphere ...

Vibration Analysis on Ball End Milling Hardened Mould Assembled with Different Hardness Materials
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Analytical and experimental identifications on the characteristics of the acceleration signal in high speed milling (HSM) process using ball end mill were studied. Three parts of harden steel with different hardness were assembled together, as opposed to the single harden steel in general HSM process.
