Text‐to‐Haptics: Enhancing Multisensory Storytelling through Emotionally Congruent Midair Haptics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2025.
Imagine feeling the pulse of a story in the palm of your hand. This research combines AI‐driven sentiment analysis with mid‐air haptics and immersive audio‐visuals, transforming narrative engagement through touch. A user study involving 40 participants supports the method's effectiveness, showing how mapped haptic cues deepen sensory and emotional ...

Interaction as enquiry: learning with layered dynamic media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The interactivity afforded to the learner by the computer based media is often fairly restricted. This may be by design choice but is often brought about by resource constraints.

Musical instrument classification using non-negative matrix factorization algorithms and subset feature selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, a class of algorithms for automatic classification of individual musical instrument sounds is presented. Several perceptual features used in sound classification applications as well as MPEG-7 descriptors were measured for 300 sound ...

Survey of Inter‐Prediction Methods for Time‐Varying Mesh Compression

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, Volume 44, Issue 1, February 2025.
This paper surveys existing methods for compressing time‐varying meshes (TVMs), focusing on the challenge of exploiting data redundancies due to varying connectivity and the absence of implicit correspondence information. We review current performance, available datasets, and potential future trends in the field.

Cross‐Platform Based Scalable 3D Media Sequence Playback Framework Architecture

open access: yesElectronics Letters, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This paper presents a novel study on a web playback framework designed to efficiently render stereoscopic 3D media content across various platforms within web environments. We propose a scalable 3D media web playback framework (S3WPF) that leverages advanced encoding technology.

Smart cross‐layer approach to multi‐access terrestrial and non‐terrestrial networks (NTNs): Real‐time mobile‐health use case

open access: yesInternational Journal of Communication Systems, Volume 37, Issue 18, December 2024.
Delivering healthcare in remote rural regions using vehicular communications has become increasingly important. This paper presents a smart multi‐access approach combining terrestrial and non‐terrestrial networks (NTNs) for real‐time video streaming to enhancing healthcare services.

Surface Modification of Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles as a Means to Introduce Inherent Cancer‐Targeting Ability in a 3D Tumor Microenvironment

open access: yesSmall Science, Volume 4, Issue 9, September 2024.
Mesoporous silica nanoparticles with a polyethylene imine surface coating (MSN‐PEI) do not penetrate the collagen matrix or enter cells in 3D. Meanwhile, acetylated MSN‐PEI (MSN‐PEI‐ACA) successfully moves through the matrix and specifically enters tumor cells, but not the surrounding tissue.

A Novel H.264/AVC Based Multi-View Video Coding Scheme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper investigates extensions of H.264/AVC for compressing multi-view video sequences. The proposed technique re-sorts frames of sequences captured by multiple cameras looking at a person in a scene from different views and generates a single video ...
