The isoflavone genistein selectively stimulates major satellite repeat transcription in mouse heterochromatin

open access: yesEpigenetics & Chromatin
Mouse heterochromatin is characterized by A/T-rich, 234 bp DNA repeat arrays, called major satellite repeats (MSR). We investigated MSR expression in response to a variety of stress conditions by using small molecule compounds.

MPI-enabled Shape Optimization of Panels Subjected to Air Blast Loading [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Simulation and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization, 2008
The problem of finding the optimal shape of an aluminum plate to mitigate air blast loading is considered. The goal is to minimize the dynamic displacement of the plate relative to the test fixture, while monitoring plastic strain values, mass, and ...

Parallel Performance of MPI Sorting Algorithms on Dual-Core Processor Windows-Based Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Message Passing Interface (MPI) is widely used to implement parallel programs. Although Windowsbased architectures provide the facilities of parallel execution and multi-threading, little attention has been focused on using MPI on these platforms.

Achieving High ON State Current through Ferroelectric Polarization‐Dependent Interfacial Resistance Switching in Undoped Orthorhombic HfO2 Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric tunnel junction devices based on epitaxial undoped ferroelectric HfO2 films demonstrate stable switching endurance of over 106 switching cycles, low write voltages of ±3 V, 16 measured resistance states, and neuromorphic capability.

IMPI: Making MPI interoperable

open access: yesJournal of Research of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, 2000
The Message Passing Interface (MPI) is the de facto standard for writing parallel scientific applications in the message passing programming paradigm. Implementations of MPI were not designed to interoperate, thereby limiting the environments in which parallel jobs could be run.

Assembly of Cell‐Seeded 3D Printed Hydrogel Modules with Perfusable Channel Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Macroscale assembly was utilized to prepare perfusable tissue constructs from individually 3D printed hydrogel modules with embedded branched channel networks and port arrays for cell seeding. Novel multi‐material bioreactors were fabricated to facilitate the gluing of individual modules and the perfusion culture of assembled modular constructs seeded ...

MEASUREMENT OF LIVING STANDARDS DEPRIVATION IN LAHORE DISTRICT, PAKISTAN (A Periodical Comparison Approach) [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Journal of Applied Economics, 2021
The study assesses living standards deprivation by determining each indicator of MPI’s absolute and relative contribution in overall poverty for the periods 2011 and 2014 using MICS data and the Alkire-Foster method for four districts, namely Lahore ...

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...
