A Phosphorylation‐Induced Micellization Switch in the Low‐Complexity Domain of TDP‐43

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phosphorylation of TAR DNA‐binding protein's 43 kDa (TDP‐43) low‐complexity domain by casein kinase 1 delta (CK1δ) acts as a molecular switch, redirecting its self‐assembly from macroscopic phase separation toward finite‐sized, spherical block‐copolymer micelles of ∼30 nm.

Who reads contemporary erotic novels and why?

open access: yesHumanities & Social Sciences Communications, 2021
In the wake of EL James’s series Fifty Shades of Grey, the book market has seen a veritable surge of bestselling erotic novels over the past decade. The online study reported here pursued two questions: (1) Who reads these erotic novels? (2) What are the

Light‐Absorbing‐Layer‐Free Flash Lamp Annealing for High‐Throughput Fabrication of All‐Solution‐Processed Oxide Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A flash lamp annealing strategy using a mullite chuck enables rapid conversion of sol–gels to metal oxides on silicon and ultra‐thin glass without extra light‐absorbing layers. Direct light absorption initiates the transformation, and the low thermal conductivity of mullite promotes heat accumulation.

Forced expression of MSR repeat transcripts above a threshold limit breaks heterochromatin organisation

open access: yesNature Communications
Mouse heterochromatin is characterised by transcriptionally competent major satellite repeat (MSR) sequences and it has been proposed that MSR RNA contributes to the integrity of heterochromatin.

Parallel implementation of Thomas algorithm for the 2D heat equation

open access: yesВестник КазНУ. Серия математика, механика, информатика, 2019
In this paper was considered a parallel implementation of the Thomas algorithm for the 2D heat equation. MPI was chosen as the technology for parallelization. The numerical solution of the two-dimensional heat conduction problem was solved using the two

Atomically Dispersed Mo–S Sites Boost NiFe–Layered Double Hydroxide for Industrial‐Level Seawater Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
(Mo–S)1@NiFe–LDH promotes the rapid structural transition to the active oxyhydroxide phase, enabling selective seawater oxidation at industrial‐level current densities. Atomically dispersed Mo–S sites within the LDH lattice efficaciously modulate the structural flexibility to lower the thermodynamic barrier for early‐phase activation.

A Pragmatic Solution to a Major Interoperability Problem: Using Blockchain for the Nationwide Patient Index

open access: yesBlockchain in Healthcare Today, 2018
Associating the health-related records and transactions of patients with their numerous “identities” as they interact with different healthcare providers, payers, pharmacy benefit managers and other entities is an expensive and complex problem. With many

MPI-ACC: Accelerator-Aware MPI for Scientific Applications [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems, 2016
Data movement in high-performance computing systems accelerated by graphics processing units (GPUs) remains a challenging problem. Data communication in popular parallel programming models, such as the Message Passing Interface (MPI), is currently limited to the data stored in the CPU memory space.
