A novel nonlinear modeling for estimate the dynamics of an MR brake
International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2018This paper presents a mathematical modeling of a magneto-rheological (MR) brake to determine a relationship between input current and output torque for applying a variety of control applications. The proposed model is consisted of two sub-models: a mechanical sub-model, using Bingham plastic model for MR fluid and a magnetic circuit sub-model through a

Analysis of a Novel MR Rotary Brake with Permanent Magnet
Transactions of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers A, 2009In this paper, a novel MR brake with permanent magnet is developed. This system consists of rotary disk, permanent magnet, spring and MR fluid. Permanent magnets are attached to the rotary disk and moves in the direction of radius. The magnets are linked to rotor axis by spring.

Gap-Size Effect of Compact MR Fluid Brake
Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, 2011MRF are kinds of functional fluids, whose rheological properties, especially shear stresses under shear rates, can be rapidly and repeatedly controlled with application of magnetic fields. CMRFB in which the MRF between multilayered disks works as a torque generator was developed in our previous works.

Prosthetic leg powered by MR brake and SMA wires
SPIE Proceedings, 2014Current knee designs for prosthetic legs rely on electric motors for both moving and stationary states. The electric motors draw an especially high level of current to sustain a fixed position. The advantage of using magnetorheological (MR) fluid is that it requires less current and can have a variable braking torque.
