Quantifying extreme behaviour in geomagnetic activity [PDF]
Understanding the extremes in geomagnetic activity is an important component in understanding just how severe conditions can become in the terrestrial space environment. Extreme activity also has consequences for technological systems.

Tall fescue produces more biomass and less carbon dioxide from the soil when it contains its beneficial fungal endophyte. Increased temperatures projected with climate change reduce fescue biomass, while altered rainfall frequency does not. Altering rainfall frequency and increasing temperatures can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from soil.

Disease Site‐Specific Outcomes in p16‐Positive Non‐Oropharyngeal Mucosal Head and Neck Cancer
ABSTRACT Objectives To report disease‐free survival (DFS) in p16‐positive non‐oropharyngeal head‐and‐neck squamous‐cell carcinoma (HNSCC). Methods Curatively‐treated non‐oropharyngeal HNSCC (2009–2021) were reviewed. DFS was compared among p16‐positive, p16‐negative, and p16‐untested cases for the overall cohort and by disease site.

Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors Induce Intestinal Epithelial Injury and a Senescence‐Like Phenotype
ICI treatment promotes the infiltration of activated immune cells into the intestinal mucosa. This inflammatory microenvironment is associated with significant epithelial injury, characterized by the disruption of the epithelial barrier, the depletion of specialized secretory cell lineages, and the induction of a premature senescence phenotype ...

A generalization of periodic autoregressive models for seasonal time series [PDF]
Many nonstationary time series exhibit changes in the trend and seasonality structure, that may be modeled by splitting the time axis into different regimes. We propose multi-regime models where, inside each regime, the trend is linear and seasonality is

The meeting problem in the quantum random walk
We study the motion of two non-interacting quantum particles performing a random walk on a line and analyze the probability that the two particles are detected at a particular position after a certain number of steps (meeting problem).
