Loss of primary cilia promotes EphA2‐mediated endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in the ovarian tumor microenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of primary cilia in endothelial cells promotes EndMT and vascular abnormalities in the ovarian tumor microenvironment through EphA2 activation. Using human samples, in vitro models, and endothelial‐specific Kif3a‐knockout mice, we show that primary cilia loss drives the acquisition of cancer‐associated fibroblast‐like phenotypes, thereby ...

DNA and RNA Vaccines: Current Status, Quality Requirements and Specific Aspects of Preclinical Studies

open access: yesБиопрепараты: Профилактика, диагностика, лечение, 2019
This review focuses on DNA and RNA vaccines whose potential use was first considered at the end of the 20th century. However, not a single bacterial plasmid-based or mRNA vaccine has been used since that time in public healthcare for the prevention of ...

The Effect of a Reduced-Calorie Diet on alpha-2 Adrenergic Receptor Responsiveness in Abdominal Adipose Tissue in Obese Men During Exercise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
There is at present an imperfect understanding of the effect of diet on availability of inhibitory receptors in fat cells during exercise among obese men. *Objective:* The purpose of this study was to determine whether diet results in

Stochastic theory of protein synthesis and polysome: ribosome profile on a single mRNA transcript

open access: yes, 2011
The process of polymerizing a protein by a ribosome, using a messenger RNA (mRNA) as the corresponding template, is called {\it translation}. Ribosome may be regarded as a molecular motor for which the mRNA template serves also as the track.

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Aubergine iCLIP Reveals piRNA-Dependent Decay of mRNAs Involved in Germ Cell Development in the Early Embryo

open access: yesCell Reports, 2015
The Piwi-interacting RNA (piRNA) pathway plays an essential role in the repression of transposons in the germline. Other functions of piRNAs such as post-transcriptional regulation of mRNAs are now emerging.

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

A minimum principle in mRNA editing ?

open access: yes, 2001
mRNA editing of sequences of many species is analyzed. The nature of the inserted nucleotides and the position of the insertion sites, once fixed the edited peptide chain, are explained by introducing a minimum principle in the framework of the crystal ...
