Cellular Expression of Tropoelastin mRNA Splice Variants
Matrix, 1992The primary transcript of tropoelastin is alternatively spliced into multiple mRNAs. The pattern and frequency of exon splicing is developmentally regulated, but the cellular profile of isoform expression within and among elastic tissues is not known.

Epithelin mRNA expression in polycystic kidney disease
Peptides, 1999Epithelins are polypeptides that are preferentially expressed in epithelial cells and modulate growth. Epithelin expression is predominant in tissues of epithelial origin such as the kidney, spleen, lung, placenta, and colon. Because polycystic kidney disease involves abnormal proliferation of the proximal and/or distal tubule epithelial cells, we ...

Metallothionein mRNA expression in fetal mouse organs
Developmental Biology, 1982The regulation of metallothionein biosynthesis in mammalian development was investigated by examining organs of 17-day fetal mice for biologically active metallothionein mRNA. Metallothionein was identified in cell-free translation products by migration in polyacrylamide gels and its characteristic elution on Sephadex G-50 columns.

Characterization of mRNA Expression in Single Neurons
2007How neurons differ from each other is largely determined by their specific repertoire of mRNAs. The genes expressed by a given neuron reflect its developmental history, its interaction with other cells, and its synaptic activity. Since the introduction of reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), it has been possible to identify ...

Gene expression by mRNA analysis
2001Publisher Summary Gene expression studies are very important in the study of marine heterotrophic bacteria, particularly the extremophiles, in terms of understanding the response to pressure and low and high temperature. The capability to detect gene expression by mRNA analysis has enabled the real-time detection of expression of genes involved in ...
