Climatology of Plasma Irregularities Using ROTI Index From 2008 to 2023 in East West Asia
Abstract This study investigates characteristics of ionospheric irregularities over the East–West Asian equatorial region using the Rate of TEC Index (ROTI) derived from Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) measurements. Data from four stations (GUAM, PIMO, CUSV, and IISC) were analyzed for 2008–2023, covering solar cycle (SC) 24 and the ascending

Studies of medium scale travelling ionospheric disturbances using TIGER SuperDARN radar sea echo observations [PDF]
Seasonal and diurnal variations in the direction of propagation of medium-scale travelling ionospheric disturbances (MSTIDs) have been investigated by analyzing sea echo returns detected by the TIGER SuperDARN radar located in Tasmania (43.4° S, 147.

Abstract Extreme conditions during storms profoundly alter the evolution of equatorial plasma bubbles (EPBs), yet the key dynamics remains poorly understood. We document the rapid expansion, contraction, and decay of super EPBs in South America during the 12 November 2025 storm with Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF) Bz/By magnitude exceeding ∼50 nT ...

First LiDAR Observation of Quasi‐Periodic Structures in Mid‐Latitude E‐Region Meteoric Ca+ Layers
Abstract We report the first LiDAR observations of continuous quasi‐periodic (QP) metal density structures in mid‐latitude E‐region meteoric Ca+ layers using an all‐solid‐state LiDAR system in Beijing (40.4°N, 116.0°E). These QP Ca+ structures, with periods of 2–30 min and vertical wavelengths of ∼2–15 km, were primarily observed above 100 km.

Northward-propagating nighttime medium-scale traveling ionospheric disturbances observed with SuperDARN Hokkaido HF radar and GEONET [PDF]
We report on the characteristics of nighttime medium-scale traveling ionospheric disturbances (MSTIDs) propagating northward observed with the SuperDARN Hokkaido HF radar, which has a field of view to the north of Japan, and occasionally with the GNSS ...

Global GNSS Observation of Mesoscale Ionospheric Irregularities (2006–2024)
Abstract Mesoscale ionospheric irregularities are statistically investigated using an unprecedented 19‐year long‐term global GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) TEC (total electron content) data set. These irregularities are represented by ionospheric fluctuations within a 5°× ${}^{\circ}\times $ 3.75° ${}^{\circ}$ (latitude by longitude) region ...

C/NOFS observations of electromagnetic coupling between magnetically conjugate MSTID structures [PDF]
AbstractThis report demonstrates empirically that couplings between magnetically conjugate medium‐scale traveling ionospheric disturbances (MSTIDs) are electromagnetic in nature. This is accomplished by comparing plasma density, electric, and magnetic perturbations sampled simultaneously by sensors on the Communication/Navigation Outage Forecasting ...

Abstract Atmospheric gravity waves (GWs) are believed to transport energy and momentum between different regions of the atmosphere. Historically, observations of these waves from both ground and space have been relatively abundant at altitudes up to the lower thermosphere, and somewhat less abundant in the upper thermosphere and F‐region ionosphere ...

Near‐continuous electron density measurements obtained over a ∼3 year period, 2010–2013, using the Poker Flat Incoherent Scatter Radar (PFISR) in central Alaska (69°N, 147°W) have been analyzed to quantify the properties of over 650 high‐latitude medium ...
