Mucin 1 Oncoprotein Expression Is Suppressed by the miR-125b Oncomir
The MUC1 oncoprotein is overexpressed in most human breast cancers by mechanisms that are incompletely understood. The microRNA, miR-125b, is downregulated in breast cancer cells. The present studies demonstrate that the MUC1 3'UTR contains a site for binding of the miR-125b seed region.

Mucin adsorbed by E. coli can affect neutrophil activation in vitro
Bacteria colonizing human intestine adhere to the gut mucosa and avoid the innate immune system. We previously demonstrated that Escherichia coli isolates can adsorb mucin from a diluted solution in vitro.

Membrane-Tethered Mucin-like Polypeptides Sterically Inhibit Binding and Slow Fusion Kinetics of Influenza A Virus [PDF]
The mechanism(s) by which cell-tethered mucins modulate infection by Influenza A viruses (IAVs) remains an open question. Mucins form both a protective barrier that can block virus binding and recruit IAVs to bind cells via the sialic ...

Pellicle Modification with Casein and Mucin Does Not Promote In Vitro Bacterial Biofilm Formation. [PDF]
PURPOSE During biofilm formation, bacterial species do not attach directly onto the enamel surface, but rather onto the salivary pellicle. Salivary pellicle modification with casein and mucin can hinder erosive demineralisation of the enamel, but it ...

Aberrant GALNT7‐mediated O‐GalNAcylation stabilizes TAZ to drive gallbladder cancer progression through a feed‐forward transcriptional loop. Structure‐based screening identifies Olaparib as a potent GALNT7 antagonist that disrupts this oncogenic axis, providing an immediate therapeutic strategy for this aggressive malignancy.
