Effect of Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles From Infant Formula Milk Powder on Colon Cells In Vitro

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Zinc is an essential trace element that participates in numerous metabolic processes; however, excessive exposure may interfere with the absorption of other metals, such as copper. In recent years, nanotechnology has experienced rapid growth, and zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) have garnered significant attention due to their versatile ...

Colonic Barrier Dysfunction and Inflammation Induced by Nano‐/Micro‐Plastics Fibers in Mice via the FAK/NF‐κB/iNOS and TLR4/NF‐κB/iNOS Pathways

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As emerging environmental contaminants, nano‐ and micro‐plastics (NMPs) have drawn increasing research attention due to potential hazards to organisms. Particle shape is a key factor influencing the toxic effects of NMPs, and NMPs of different shapes cause varying degrees of tissue damage. We investigated the specific mechanisms of polystyrene

Macroscopic, Histological and Ultrastructural Features of the Tongue of the Anatolian Wild Boar (Sus scrofa libycus)

open access: yesMicroscopy Research and Technique, EarlyView.
Integrated macroscopic, histological, and ultrastructural analyses revealed five distinct lingual papillae types (filiform, fungiform, conical, foliate, and vallate) in the Anatolian wild boar (Sus scrofa libycus). Mechanical papillae showed marked structural specialization, while gustatory papillae exhibited region‐specific distribution of taste buds.

Role of Mucin‐1 in Carcinomas

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, 2020
Mucin 1 (MUC1) is a large, heavy O‐glycosylated mucin glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 250 to 500 kDa, depending on the level of glycosylation, and extends 200–500 nm from the cell surface. MUC1 spans the cell membrane at the apical surface of normal simple epithelia and the surfaces of some ...

Aptamer-Gated Ion Channel for Ultrasensitive Mucin 1 Detection

Analytical Chemistry, 2021
Detection of cancer markers is important for early diagnosis and timely treatment of cancer. In this study, we fabricated a tailorable gold nanofilm-anodized aluminum oxide (Au-AAO) ion channel through nanoparticle self-assembly and proposed a highly sensitive and selective Mucin 1 (MUC1) detection method.

Probing Aberrantly Glycosylated Mucin 1 in Breast Cancer Extracellular Vesicles.

ACS Applied Bio Materials, 2023
Aberrantly glycosylated mucin 1 is a critical prognostic biomarker in breast epithelial cancers. Hypoglycosylated mucin 1 coats the surface of the cancer cells, where O-glycans are predominantly linked via an N-acetylgalactosamine moiety (GalNAc). Cancer
