In ophthalmology, living biomaterials such as living contact lenses appear promising for sustained drug delivery or biosensing. The cytocompatibility of Cg‐PVA hydrogels, developed as a model living contact lens, is investigated with the ocular surface, showing their potential translation to the clinic.

Immunobiology of human mucin 1 in a preclinical ovarian tumor model [PDF]
Epithelial ovarian cancer is an aggressive malignancy, with a low 5-year median survival. Continued improvement on the development of more effective therapies depends in part on the availability of adequate preclinical models for in vivo testing of treatment efficacy.

Ferritin‐doped hybrid nanoparticles triggered accurate tumor‐specific hemorrhage for enhanced in situ photothermal therapy and evoked anti‐tumor immunity. Notably, HFn/GA‐Fe specifically induced tumor hemorrhage 12 h after intravenous injection, resulting in visible color darkening. Through photoacoustic imaging, tumor vessels could be clearly observed

High-resolution structure of intramolecularly proteolyzed human mucin-1 SEA domain
SEA domains are ubiquitous in large proteins associated with highly glycosylated environments. Certain SEA domains undergo intramolecular proteolysis involving a nucleophilic attack of a serine hydroxyl group on the preceding glycine carbonyl. The mucin-1 (MUC1) SEA domain has been extensively investigated as a model of intramolecular proteolysis ...

To dissect how mechanical forces influence intestinal physiology, we developed a stretchable 3D colon‐on‐chip that integrates tunable topography, stiffness and peristalsis‐like motion within a physiologically relevant microenvironment. We showed that stretching is a dominant factor governing epithelial behavior, markedly enhancing proliferation and ...

Mucin 1 Aberrantly Expresses in Goat Mammary Carcinoma [PDF]
The objective of this study was to determine if expression of mucin MUC and abundance of collagen fibers is associated with the incidence of goat mammary cancer MUC often expressed in metastatic cancers and has been used as a diagnostic marker for metastatic progression Similarly collagen density affects tumor microenvironment and promotes invasion ...
