Heterologous expression of astaxanthin biosynthesis genes in Mucor circinelloides
Most Mucor species accumulate beta-carotene as the main carotenoid. The crtW and crtZ astaxanthin biosynthesis genes from Agrobacterium aurantiacum were placed under the control of Mucor circinelloides expression signals. We investigated microbial community structure of selenium sand melon (SSJ) inNingxia. We found that UV‐C had significant inactivation effect on many microorganisms in SSJ. The SWeibull2 model was the best fit to the fungal inactivation curve by fitting a variety of models.

We present a lethal case of Bourbon virus infection in a 63‐year‐old Caucasian, diabetic male who was previously in good health. The patient had spent time in the wooded areas of Bourbon County, Kansas, and removed three ticks from his body 5 days prior to presentation.
