In this studiy of five elderly patients, it was not possible to demonstrate antibodies to oral epithelium by direct or indirect immunofluorescent studies.

Intravenous Immunoglobulins and Mucous Membrane Pemphigoid
Ophthalmology, 2008This pilot study reports our clinical experience with IVIgs as an effective therapeutic option in treating 6 patients with severe MMP. Following specific inclusion criteria, all patients responded to IVIg therapy, and they experienced the resolution of all oral and extraoral lesions with a significantly higher quality of life.
