Oral Health Care Services, Barriers and Enablers to Maintaining Good Oral Health in Motor Neurone Disease: A Scoping Review

open access: yesCommunity Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives The objective of this scoping review was to map existing literature on oral health and related care in individuals with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). Specifically, the review aimed to identify barriers and facilitators to maintaining oral hygiene, summarise available clinical guidelines and patient‐facing resources, and examine how ...

Emerging Paediatric Uses of Dupilumab Beyond Approvals

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, EarlyView.
Dupilumab, through IL‐4Rα blockade, shows promising efficacy beyond approved indications in paediatric diseases driven by T2 inflammation. Emerging evidence—mainly from small studies—supports improvements in disease severity and quality of life, highlighting its potential as a targeted, steroid‐sparing therapy while underscoring the need for ...

Unveiling Gut Homeostasis Disruption in Sepsis: Towards an Integrated Mechanistic and Translational Roadmap

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Elucidating the contribution of gut‐organ axes will provide new insights for developing combined therapeutic strategies against sepsis‐associated multiple organ dysfunction. ABSTRACT Sepsis, a life‐threatening clinical syndrome precipitated by a maladaptive host response to infection, is associated with substantial morbidity and high mortality rates ...

Retrospective comparison of treatments for equine gastric ulceration syndrome and the influence of inflammatory bowel disease

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, EarlyView.
Summary Background Equine squamous gastric disease (ESGD) and equine glandular gastric disease (EGGD) can be treated with oral omeprazole, combined with sucralfate or an extended‐release intramuscular omeprazole (ERIO). Objectives To evaluate these different treatments for ESGD and EGGD and assess the influence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) on ...

Dual IRE1 targets: Determinants of the cell fate?

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
IRE1 is an ER stress sensor that restores protein homeostasis through two signaling activities: XBP1s, which upregulates its target gene expression or RIDD which downregulates its target transcripts. We recently identified Dual IRE1 Targets (DIT) which are modulated by both XBP1s and RIDD activities.

Sex Differences in Health‐Related Quality of Life in Patients With Head and Neck Cancer—A Prospective Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dental Hygiene, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To analyse sex differences in health‐related quality of life (HRQL) before, during and up to 3 months posttreatment of head and neck cancer, and to examine the importance of salivary secretion rate for HRQL posttreatment. Methods Patients were recruited before starting curative oncologic treatment.

Plasma Elastase Screening in Hematological Disease Reveals Its Potential as a Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarker in Hematological Malignancies

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neutrophil‐extracellular traps are net‐like material released by triggered neutrophils and composed of decondensed chromatin linked to nuclear proteins. Elastase, one of the fourth most represented neutrophil‐specific serine proteases stored in azurophil granules of naïve neutrophils, exerts various actions, including degradation ...

Tissue Resident Memory Cells: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
Tissue‐resident memory T cells (TRM cells) are specialised immune cells in barrier tissues like the lungs, skin and gut, providing rapid host defence and tumour surveillance. Their retention and differentiation are regulated by molecules such as CD69, CD103 and TGF‐β. Dysregulation of TRM cells can lead to chronic activation, driving conditions such as
