Decentralized state estimation of multi-area interconnected power systems
Proceedings of the 2002 American Control Conference (IEEE Cat. No.CH37301), 2002Based on the Inclusion Principle for linear stochastic systems, a decentralized state estimation methodology for automatic generation control (AGC) of the multi-area overlapping interconnected power system is proposed in this paper. The overlapping decentralized estimators designed in the framework of LQG control schemes are applied to the system ...

Distributed economic dispatch for a multi-area power system
2015 IEEE 10th Conference on Industrial Electronics and Applications (ICIEA), 2015In this paper, we present a distributed economic dispatch strategy for a multi-area power system. We treat each generator and load in the grid as an “agent”. Due to the large-scale number of the agents, the agents in the same area can be sorted as one group and each group has a leader to communicate with its neighboring areas.

VAR optimization and pricing in multi-areas power system
2003 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37491), 2004This paper presents an approach to calculate the price of reactive power (VAR) support service and optimize the VAR control in a multi-area power system. For the calculation of VAR pricing, the VAR support benefits with respect to power delivery increases of tie lines are computed.

Total Transfer Capability Computation for Multi-Area Power Systems
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2006This paper presents a method for multi-area power system total transfer capability (TTC) computation. This computation takes into account the limits on the line flows, bus voltage magnitude, generator reactive power, voltage stability, as well as the loss of line contingencies.

Two-Level State Estimation for Multi-Area Power System
2007 IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2007This paper presents a two-level state estimator for multi-area interconnected power system. In the first level of the algorithm, each area runs their own state estimator using the measurements obtained from its own area. In the second level of the algorithm, the central coordinator collects the state estimation results from the individual areas and ...

Improved PI algorithm for complex multi-area power system
IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition, 2003PI algorithm is a method for predicting loss of synchronism. It was developed for power systems that can be represented by two-machine equivalent systems. This paper addresses the applicability of PI algorithm to complex multi-area power systems and its improvements to extend its application. Simulations have been performed on a multi-area power system

Distributed Load Frequency Control for Multi-Area Power Systems
2019 Tenth International Conference on Intelligent Control and Information Processing (ICICIP), 2019This paper investigates the distributed load frequency control problem for a class of multi-area power systems (MAPSs). Each agent in the MAPSs has the ability of information processing and learning, and there exists information interaction between the adjacent neighboring ones.

Distributed coordination-by-constraint strategies in networked multi-area power systems
2011 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2011A distributed constrained supervisory strategy for Load/Frequency control problems in networked multi-area power systems is presented. The aim is at finding a coordination strategy able to reconfigure, whenever necessary in response to unexpected load changes and/or faults, the nominal set-point on frequency and generated power to the generators of ...

Study of impact of wind power penetration on frequency stabilization in multi-area power system
2013 8TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ADVANCED TOPICS IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING (ATEE), 2013This paper presents a comprehensive study on the wind power impact with increasing penetration on frequency stabilization in restructured power system scenario. The focus of the study is on faster and smoother settlement of frequency and tie-line power.
