The effects of final forging temperatures on deformability and structure evolution of high purity aluminum during multi-directional forging process were investigated. The results showed that increasing the initial forging temperature is beneficial for controlling the sample shape in the initial forging passes.

Recrystallization Behavior of Nano Grained Cu-Zn Alloy Produced by Multi-Directional Forging
Materials Science Forum, 2007The static recrystallization (SRX) behavior of nano grained (NGed) Cu-30mass%Zn alloy processed by Multi-directional forging (MDF) was investigated. The NGed Cu-Zn alloy showed characteristic annealing behavior. The SRX nucleation and its grain growth occurred more readily in the samples deformed to higher cumulative strain at lower temperature.

An approach for room-temperature multi-directional forging of pure titanium for strengthening
Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2018Abstract Commercially pure Ti grade 2 was multi-directionally forged (MDFed) at room temperature. MDFing could be successfully carried out without any cracking to a cumulative strain of ΣΔe = 2.0. Ultrafine-grained (UFGed) structure gradually developed with increasing cumulative strain mainly by mechanical twinning and kinking.

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013Sewing machine oil chassis is manufactured by adopting the method of multi-directional squeeze casting liquid forging. When multi-directional pressure is applied on the template, forward and radial pressures inside the solidified body are the same at each direction according to calculation and analysis.
