Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

Five-axis coordinated multi-material simultaneous 3D printing for geometrically conformal multi-material structures

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping
The integration of functional devices with mechanical structures is crucial for developing compact and high-performance mechatronic systems. However, fabricating geometrically conformal multi-material structures and devices on curved surfaces remains a ...

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Multi-material three dimensional printed models for simulation of bronchoscopy

open access: yesBMC Medical Education, 2019
Background Bronchoscopy involves exploration of a three-dimensional (3D) bronchial tree environment using just two-dimensional (2D) images, visual cues and haptic feedback.

In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

MULTI-MATERIAL 3D PRINTER EXTRUDER CONCEPT

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Design and Engineering Graphics, 2018
Since the RepRap (Replicating rapid prototyper) project, FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printing technology has come a long way. As the machine evolves so does the range of materials we can print with and the applications in which we can use them. 3D
