A Note on Equivalences in Measuring Returns to Scale in Multi-output-multi-input Technologies [PDF]
In this article we show equivalence between the input oriented and output oriented scale elasticity measures for multi-output, multi-input technologies. We show the necessary and sufficient condition for this equivalence.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Chemotherapy side effects significantly impact cancer survivors' quality of life. Using protein levels in blood samples from breast cancer patients before and after 12 weeks of taxane treatment, we detected treatment‐dependent changes in calcium signaling and aging pathways associated with cancer recurrence.

Multi-Scale Free-Form Surface Description and Curvature Estimation
A novel technique for multi-scale smoothing of a free-form 3-D surface is presented. Complete triangulated models of 3-D objects are constructed at our center [4] and using a local parametrization technique, are then smoothed using a 2-D Gaussian filter.

Multi-scaling and mesoscopic structures [PDF]
Multi-scaling and the systematic investigation of mesoscopic structures represent a field of fruitful cooperation in physics, chemistry, mineralogy and life sciences. The increasing miniaturization of devices as well as the emphasis of recent research on microstructures with length scales of a few nanometres lead to paradigm changes that may impact not

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Multi-scale 3-D Surface Description: Open and Closed Surfaces
A novel technique for multi-scale smoothing of a free-form 3-D surface is presented. Complete triangulated models of 3-D objects are constructed automatically and using a local parametrization technique, are then smoothed using a 2-D Gaussian filter. Our

Multi-Scale Geometric Autoencoder
Autoencoders have emerged as powerful models for visualization and dimensionality reduction based on the fundamental assumption that high-dimensional data is generated from a low-dimensional manifold. A critical challenge in autoencoder design is to preserve the geometric structure of data in the latent space, with existing approaches typically ...
