Multi-scale modeling of dispersed gas–liquid two-phase flow [PDF]
In this work the concept of multi-scale modeling is demonstrated. The idea of this approach is to use different levels of modeling, each developed to study phenomena at a certain length scale.

Multi-scale modeling of textures
Proceedings., 11th IAPR International Conference on Pattern Recognition. Vol. IV. Conference D: Architectures for Vision and Pattern Recognition,, 2003Considers a specific class of textures which are stochastic, possibly periodic, two-dimensional signals displaying fractal-like or self-similar characteristics. Most natural textures belong to this class. The authors explore the use of autoregressive (AR) processes on trees as texture model. This theory was proposed by Basseville et al.

This paper reviews 3D-modeling activities at the German DLR Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics, carried out within the last decade in cooperation with partners in Germany (Z+F, Illustrated Architecture, DLR Institutes of Optical Information Systems, and of Planetary Research) and international partners. The main focus is on multisensory (e.g.

Multi-scale modeling of microvascular reactivity
2014 IEEE 4th International Conference on Computational Advances in Bio and Medical Sciences (ICCABS), 2014Regulation of vascular tone is a complex process that remains poorly understood. Here we present our recent efforts for the development of physiologically realistic model of an arteriole for the analysis of vasoreactivity in health and in disease. Our goal is to describe function at a macro scale level by integrating mechanisms at the subcellular ...

A multi‐scale disk dynamo model
Astronomische Nachrichten, 2006AbstractWe suggest to combine the mean‐field description of the galactic dynamo with a shell description of small‐scale turbulence for high values of hydrodynamic and magnetic Reynolds numbers. The model allows us to keep the balance of energy and realizes the kinematic and non‐linear regimes of the magnetic field generation.

Detection and localization with multi-scale models
2016 23rd International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR), 2016Object detection and localization in images involve a multi-scale reasoning process. First, responses of object detectors are known to vary with image scale. Second, contextual relationships on a part-level, object-level, and scene-level appear at different scales of the image.

Temporal Multi-Scale Models for Flow and Acceleration
International Journal of Computer Vision, 1999A model for computing image flow in image sequences containing a very wide range of instantaneous flows is proposed. This model integrates the spatio-temporal image derivatives from multiple temporal scales to provide both reliable and accurate instantaneous flow estimates.
