Multibeam echosounders have revolutionized our ability to resolve seabed geomorphology and regionally define its substrate. Using a fan of narrow acoustic beams, the slant ranges, angles and returned backscattered intensity can be employed to define the seabed elevation and infer the substrate.

High power klystrons operating in the 300-600 MHz frequency range, used in science for particle accelerators, have the drawback of being bulky and requiring very high voltages. Since klystron dimensions grow far less rapidly than the power they can deliver, one could propose to employ tubes of 4 to 5 MW each when total power requirements are of several

Multibeam reflecting nanoklystron
2008 International Conference on Microwave and Millimeter Wave Technology, 2008The aim of the present paper is to address the issues of whether it is possible to designed develop by numerical simulation the electromagnetic continuous-wave THz- sources width electrically tunable frequency. These sources may well find their use, say, in the fields of applications such as the development of THz-spectroscopy, high- resolution radars,

Digest on Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium, 2003
A multibeam antenna prototype for an ESM system is presented. The antenna is formed by a semicircular array of Vivaldi radiating elements, fed by an RKR microstrip lens. Both the lens and the array are printed on the same dielectric substrate. The antenna operates over one octave frequency band.

We present here the development of a multibeam echosounder. Its specifications have been defined for fishing applications. The L.M.P. has managed the preliminary studies and the realization of the prototype with the support of IFREMER (Institut Francais pour la Recherche et l’Exploitation de la MER) which has also organized the sea trials on an ...

Proceedings of the IEEE, 1968
The application of general N-port Butler matrices to the generation of multiple beams-from planar arrays is described. It is shown that the array must satisfy a "covering" condition. The interconnection of array and matrix is derived. The method, for determination of beam position is developed and applied to rectangular arrays to improve beam crossover

A multibeam subbottom profiler
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2006A multibeam subbottom profiling system (MSBPS) is being built with funding from the Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) in coordination with the Office of Naval Research. The MSBPS is being constructed from three T70 Neptune Sonar transducer modules in a line.
