Seabed sediments (grain size) of Nordland VI, offshore north Norway

open access: yesJournal of Maps, 2017
This paper presents a seabed sediments (grain size) map of the Nordland VI area (25,000 km2) off the Lofoten islands, north Norway. The map is based on multibeam echosounder data (bathymetry and backscatter), visual analysis of 215 video transects (each ...

A Method for Field Calibration of a Multibeam Echo Sounder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The use of multibeam echo sounders (MBES) has grown more frequent in applications like seafloor imaging, fisheries, and habitat mapping. Calibration of these instruments is important for understanding and validating the performance of MBES.

The precision calibration of depth and resolution for multibeam sonar in anechoic pool in the laboratory [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
The multibeam sonar is an important device for underwater survey, of which the measurement precision is a key parameter. We had designed an equipment to calibrate the depth and resolution precision for multibeam sonar in the anechoic pool in the ...

Findings from a Combined Subsea LiDAR and Multibeam Survey at Kingston Reef, Western Australia

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR), a comparatively new technology in the field of underwater surveying, has principally been used for taking precise measurement of undersea structures in the oil and gas industry.

NOMA and interference limited satellite scenarios [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper deals with the problem of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in multibeam satellite systems, where the signals are jointly precoded.

Geomorphology and Late Pleistocene–Holocene Sedimentary Processes of the Eastern Gulf of Finland

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
In 2017, a detailed study of the Eastern Gulf of Finland (the Baltic Sea) seafloor was performed to identify and map submerged glacial and postglacial geomorphologic features and collect data pertinent to the understanding of sedimentation in postglacial

The first ultra-high resolution Digital Terrain Model of the shallow-water sector around Lipari Island (Aeolian Islands, Italy) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Very high resolution bathymetric map obtained through multibeam echosounders data are crucial to generate accurate Digital Terrain Models from which the morphological setting of active volcanic areas can be analyzed in detail. Here we show and discuss

AUV Navigation Correction Based on Automated Multibeam Tile Matching

open access: yesSensors, 2022
Ocean science and hydroacoustic seafloor mapping rely on accurate navigation underwater. By exploiting terrain information provided by a multibeam echosounder system, it is possible to significantly improve map quality. This article presents an algorithm

On Interferometric Duality in Multibeam Experiments

open access: yes, 2003
We critically analyze the problem of formulating duality between fringe visibility and which-way information, in multibeam interference experiments.

Scalable Thermal Engineering via Femtosecond Laser‐Direct‐Written Phononic Nanostructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that femtosecond laser‐induced periodic surface structures (fs‐LIPSS) can function as phononic metasurfaces, reducing thermal conductivity below the plain thin‐film limit. Phonon Monte Carlo analysis reveals that the periodic structures restrict phonon mean free paths.
